Santorini has become a very popular wedding destination, the traditional whitewashed buildings nestled in the hilltops and breathtaking views over the Aegean Sea create the perfect backdrop.
Charlotte and Dan’s wedding took place at Santorini Gem, a luxurious wedding venue located at the highest point of the Greek island, offering magnificent views of the Caldera.
The design concept was clean, chic and sophisticated with a colour palette predominately of white and blue. Charlotte and Dan wanted a colour scheme to tie with the beautiful Santorini setting and they achieved just that.
Charlotte wore a stunning Pronovias gown which featured a sweetheart neckline and a dramatic tulle skirt trimmed with nylon ribbon. The beautiful bridesmaids wore nude, sequin embellished maxi dresses from D.Anna London, hair and makeup was provided by Helen Savva International. Dan and his groomsmen looked dapper in tailored, deep blue Jeff Banks suits.
The wedding ceremony took place overlooking the crystal blue Aegean Sea and Caldera cliffs. The bridal bouquet and bridesmaid posies included crisp white roses surrounded by olive branches, the boutonnieres consisted of one large statement rose. Large olive trees framed the ceremony gazebo which featured a romantic floral garland and hand-tied posies had been attached to the ceremony chairs. After the ceremony, guests were treated to a cocktail reception and a live saxophonist performance.
Quote from the Bride: ”The day was everything we imagined and more. Planning a wedding abroad isn’t the simplest of tasks and it’s hard to imagine it coming together at times! In the end, it was the perfect day and most importantly, we had so much fun. Our venue was so ‘out-of-this-world’ beautiful that it was hard to believe it was real. Sharing this experience with everyone we love is something we’ll cherish forever. Santorini is truly paradise”
Quote from the Groom: “Charlotte and I always shared the dream of a white wedding on a dramatic cliff top and Santorini offered exactly what we wanted. We were fortunate that so many friends wanted to share our special occasion which made our day all the more perfect. We wish we could do it all again!”
Charlotte and Dan continued their beautiful Greek wedding theme by naming each dining table after the Greek God’s and added miniature bottles of Ouzo as their wedding favours. The floral centrepieces featured large white blooms including white roses and hydrangeas with a mass of green foliage set in ceramic pots. Place cards, tied with a ribbon were attached to Olive branches and sat upon crisp white napkins.
As the Santorini sun was setting, candles were placed around the entire venue to create a romantic and intimate atmosphere. The stunning all white wedding cake by Alexandra’s was an impressive six tiers with a delicate ruffle detail that wrapped around the entire cake. During the first dance guests were treated to a dramatic firework display followed by an energetic and fun DJ performance which had guests dancing into the night.
